Deerfield is a small incorporated village in Illinois, with a portion of the city in Cook County and a population of just over 42,000. It is located approximately 27 miles north of downtown Chicago. The village's current redevelopment plan is underway, and the village is currently considering a TIF district to promote redevelopment of underutilized property. The village has enlisted the services of consulting firm Kane McKenna and Associates (KMA) to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the potential designation of an area for a redevelopment project, and to help write the Redevelopment Plan.
There are several hotels and motels in the city, including the Ashley Brooke Motel, the Block-To-Beach Inns, and the Berkshire Beach Club of Deerfield. The neighborhood is also home to Cagney's Crabhouse, and two breweries. Famous residents include Brent Schaeffer, a former NFL quarterback, Canton Jones, and Charlene Honeywell, a judge. The city also boasts a diverse group of celebrities including Christian musician, Brent Schaeffer, and college basketball player, Elton Nesbitt.
