Winnemucca City, Nevada is a small city in the state of Nevada. It is located along the Mary's River and has been inhabited continuously since 1830. Peter Ogden first established a camp along the river in the 1830s. Later west bound wagon trains used the Humboldt Trail, and the southern bank of the river was occupied by a trading post. Eventually, it was renamed Paiute Chief's Ford.

The city was designated as the county seat in 1873.
