The 2010 census reveals the population of Prewitt City, Arkansas, at 6,586. The city has a median age of 39.4 years, with a quarter of the population being under the age of 18. Twenty-four percent of the population was aged twenty-four to twenty-five, twenty-one percent was aged forty-five to forty-four, and twenty-one percent was age 65 and older. The median household income was $53,772, with a per capita of $26,602. There were six percent of families living below the poverty line, which was reflected by the fact that the average household was two-and-a-half people. The population of this city was dominated by men, with roughly eighty-four percent of the residents being male.

Pratt City's Victorian Commercial Building is the largest building in the city and has been a retail and office building for many years. Joseph Goldstein, a Russian immigrant, operated the store here for many years. In 1911, it was named "The Department Store." Members of the Goldstein family still own clothing businesses in Birmingham. The city also boasts the Southern Express Co., which has used its entrance on Ave. U to pick up passengers.

The Ensley carline began operating in 1887. This line connected downtown with the ridge above the "bottoms." At the intersection of Carline and 5th, the Scott School was founded, a historically black grade school. The Sanborn map of 1911 shows that Pratt Mines Station had 13 buildings. These included an office building, a grocery store, a dry goods store, a barber shop, and three furniture stores.
