The city of Lincolndale is located at the mouth of the Hudson River. The most pleasant months are June, August, and July, while the coldest months are January and February. Lincolndale is part of the New York metro area, which encompasses the island of Manhattan, the eight-county region immediately north, and western Long Island and Staten Islands. It is one of the wealthiest places in the United States. The population of Lincolndale is approximately 1,646 people. The city has been growing at a rate of 23.2% since the last census.

The median gross rent for the city was $2,001 per month in 2010. The figure may include utility bills, insurance, and some other costs. This number was higher than the rent burden in neighboring cities, such as Thornwood and Cornwall-on-Hudson. In Lincolndale, 18.3% of housing units are occupied by renters, which is lower than the state average of 28.4%.

According to the 2010 Census, there were 717 households in Lincolndale City. Twenty-one percent of the households were headed by married couples, while eight percent of the households were headed by a single woman. The average household size was 2.81 people, with an average family size of three.

Although the city's population was increasing, the hamlet's original residential structures remained largely unchanged. This resulted in the construction of several commercial buildings, including the William Bailey House. These structures were later modified to accommodate the growing population. In the 1990s, three large buildings were erected on the grounds of the William Bailey House, which compromised the setting of the Second Empire style house.
