When it comes to demographics, Rock Hill is considered a mid-sized city. With a population of approximately 8512 people, the city enjoys a humid subtropical climate. It also has mild winters, making it an ideal location for a staycation. There are a wide range of outdoor activities for all types of visitors to Rock Hill. It also has the distinction of producing one NFL player per every eight thousand residents.

During the late nineteenth century, Rock Hill expanded its industrial base beyond the cotton textile industry. John Gary Anderson organized his own carriage manufacturer in 1916. This factory produced up to 35 automobiles per day before closing in 1924. The Lowenstein Corporation bought Anderson's factory and converted it into Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Company, also known as a bleachery. Other industries that migrated to Rock Hill during the late twentieth century included Celanese Corporation of America and Bowaters Carolina Corporation.

The city has several television stations, including WNSC-TV, a PBS affiliate. The city also boasts CN2, a daily cable news program produced by Comporium Communications. The former post office is now a cultural center, home to the Gettys Art Center. In fact, the old courthouse now houses a performing arts venue and office and studio space. The city's population continues to grow.
