Boomer, North Carolina Statistic: Population, Charts, Map, Steets and More

A quick Google search for the area where the boomer generation lives will give you a good idea of how many residents live there. According to census data, the city has nearly two thousand boomer residents. And that number is growing rapidly. The baby boom generation is a highly attractive demographic group for a variety of reasons. It represents the peak of wealth, power, and influence for the first generation of baby boomers. Those 55 years old and above earn a median annual income of $58,200, the same as other households.

Many boomers are choosing to live in the city instead of the suburbs. The first boomer zip code in the country is Las Vegas, which has 30 percent of baby boomers. Other zip codes in the Southwest and West have smaller percentages of baby boomers than Hartford. And, of course, the most baby boomers live in states that are largely warmer. These cities are expected to compete with each other for the boomer population.

New York City is a growing city of the elderly. The Baby Boomer generation is retiring at an increasingly young age, and medical advances allow more adults to live longer than ever. The city's population of adults 65 and older is expected to grow by 19.2 percent in the decade from 2005 to 2015. That's more than double the rate of the general population, and three times the rate of the younger population. Today, the area is home to 1.1 million adults. By 2040, this number is projected to hit 1.4 million.
