The following information provides a general overview of the population and steets of Mounds City, Minnesota. These numbers are based on the 2010 census and can be used as a guide for prospective residents of Mounds City. The population is spread out, with 29.3% of residents being under the age of 18 and 9.1% being between 18 and 24 years old. Forty-seven percent of households are made up of married couples, and thirty-nine percent are non-families. A few percent of residents live alone, while 14.2% are senior citizens. The average age of residents is 35 years, with men outnumbering women ninety-two to one.
In 2002, the Elk Mound Focus Group met to develop a visioning document. The Town Board then appointed a Plan Commission made up of Elton Christopherson, Judy Ganong, Don Schley, Marvin Michels, and Kevin Gilbertson. The Commission held two open houses and discussed the goals and objectives of the town. The open houses were attended by approximately two-thirds of the town's population.
