Founded in 1752, Pottstown is a borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It is located forty miles west of Philadelphia and eight miles southeast of Reading. The town was originally named Pottsgrove. The name was changed to Pottstown after John Potts. The town's first iron forge was built here in 1714, and its residents - Germans, Swedes, and English - began to flourish.
