That year, Al Glaes, a local radio station owner, operated a short-wave radio station from his home on High Street.

South Williamsport City has a relatively low crime rate. It is also relatively safe compared to other nearby cities. The southwest part of the city experiences more crimes than the rest of the city. However, this may be misleading as crime rates in the southwest may be inflated due to visitors who visit the area during the day. In addition, many crimes occur in retail areas and may appear high on the crime map.
