Wyalusing, Pennsylvania Statistic: Population, Charts, Map, Steets and More

Wyalusing City, Pennsylvania is a borough located in Bradford County. The 2010 census recorded a population of 596 people. The city is located on the Delaware River. The borough is home to several different industries, including the textile industry. There are also numerous historical sites in the area.

By 1900, Wyalusing had grown to a population of 525 people. The population was expanded on the 1903 Sanborn map, showing that the town was home to a number of new residential areas. The city had two banks, and its streets were lit by electricity produced by its own residents. A fire destroyed Brown's Opera House in 1905, but it was rebuilt in a nearby building. The population increased to 580 by the time of the 1911 census.

The population was 438 at the time of the 1870 census, and the Sanborn map of 1897 shows several commercial establishments along Main Street. There were two drug stores, a furniture and cabinet shop, a post office, insurance office, and a blacksmith's shop. The town also had a creamery, and Methodist and Baptist churches. After 1893, the water supply was provided by a privately owned company.

After the 1930s, commercial interests began to fade. Clothing, hardware, and department stores were especially hard hit. By the beginning of the 21st century, businesses in Wyalusing were mostly service businesses. Many buildings along Main Street had been empty. Some businesses were located outside the historic district, including the Arrow Manufacturing Company and Taylor Packing. These businesses provided employment for Wyalusing residents.
