Wessington Springs is a city located in Jerauld County, South Dakota. The city's estimated population in 2020 is 887, a decline of -8.08% from the 2010 census. It is also home to a population of 50 couples. A census was taken in 1881, but the data are not complete. The median age in the city is 57 years, and the average household size is two families.

As of 1911, the town was incorporated into a county. The Logan County Democratic Convention met in Wessington Springs on Sept. 19 and nominated G. D. Canon as Register of Deeds, R. M. Magee as Clerk of the District Court, B. R. Shimp as Superintendent of Schools, and Henry Herring as Justice. In addition, Royer and Price were elected to the county central committee.

The city also operates a Wind Energy Center on approximately three thousand acres. The wind energy center has increased its output in 2013 and the Cooper Nuclear Station is operating at 100% availability. The Wind Energy Center's production continues to improve with the help of its own generators. The city also receives supplemental ground water through contracts with Heartland Consumers Power District, which is the city's public power utility.
