The city of Conroe, Texas is located in southeastern Texas, about 50 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico. The wettest months are April, October and January, with the driest months being March and December. The Houston metro area, which includes Conroe, is the fourth largest in the U.S. It encompasses ten counties and sprawls out for 50 miles on either side of the city. The population of Conroe is 96,214, and the growth rate has been very steady, with its population increasing by 44.7% since the 2020 census. The average commute time to work is 28.4 minutes, which is a little bit longer than the national average of 26.4 minutes.

The city of Conroe has attracted new residents from the Houston area in the first decade of the 21st century. A 2002 article by Renee C. Lee described the city as "a sleepy, backwater." However, after the city began offering financial incentives to home developers, Conroe became a hotbed for new house construction. Currently, the city has three sewer plants and plans a fourth.

The city is located seven miles south of Lake Conroe, which is the center of multiple year-round events. The city is also home to a number of parks, including Candy Cane Park, which houses the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County. The city is connected to major cities by Interstate 45, with Houston approximately 40 miles away and Dallas nearly 200 miles away. This makes the city a convenient place to live.
