The city of Nursery is an unincorporated community in Victoria County, Texas. It is a part of the Victoria Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is served by the Nursery Independent School District. The district serves elementary school students in kindergarten through grade five and secondary school students in grades six through twelve.
The city has a large population of single mothers and a high rate of incarceration. This disproportionately affects low-income single-parent families. The research has found that incarceration affects children in more than one way. This enables federal agencies to make informed service recommendations for mothers in jail.
