Simonton City is located at the intersection of Farm roads 1093 and 1489 about fourteen miles northwest of Richmond. The city was settled by James Simonton in the early 1850s. He built a plantation in the area on the Brazos River and eventually broke it up. The San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway was built through the city in 1888. In 1905, Simonton received its own post office, and in 1910, a doctor named Davis H. Mullins moved to the area.
