St Johnsbury City is in Vermont. It is a small community with 143 inhabitants. In 1790, the village was incorporated, and its name was adopted. Vermont founder Ethan Allen suggested the name "St. John" in honor of a friend of his who was a writer, experimental farmer, and friend of Benjamin Franklin. Today, the city is home to several universities, a medical center, and a small airport.
