Fork Union is an unincorporated community in southern Fluvanna County, Virginia. The city has an estimated population of 1148. It is home to the Fork Union Military Academy and Fork Union Animal Clinic. It also once had one of the few remaining drive-in movie theaters in the country. There is a post office, bank, small grocery store, and one Presbyterian church. It is the only town in Fluvanna County to have a Presbyterian church.

The 2010 U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey estimates that the median household and family income was $40,173 (+/ $2,185) in Fork Union City. Males had a median income of $31,987, while females had a median income of $25,010. The city's per capita income was $18,506 (+/ $719). According to this census, 17.0% of families and 20.9% of the population lived below the poverty line. The population of Fork Union City was primarily older, with a median age of 37.8 years.

The city is home to several UEZs. The New Jersey Department of Commerce introduced the Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) program in 1983 to help revitalize economically distressed communities. Union City is one of 32 UEZs in the county. In 1994, it was one of four UEZs selected based on competition. Because of this, residents in the city can take advantage of a lower sales tax rate.
