The Buena City population is approximately 1,691 people. The median household income is $25,109, but the poverty rate is much lower at 0.48%. The eviction rate is also lower than nearby cities Klickitat and Ione. Buena is a great place to live if you have limited money. However, it is possible to get evicted if you have no place to live.

The first recorded settlement in Buena Vista was 1887. The town grew quickly, adding a brick schoolhouse and an opera house. The area also developed a paper and pulp mill and two banks. In 1889, the Buena Vista lodge was built. Throughout the rest of the year, people started moving to Buena Vista, and the city became a commercial hub.

The city was incorporated as a General Law city in 1953. The City Charter, which is approved by the electorate, acts as the city's constitution. To amend the City Charter, a majority of the population must agree to the amendment. The city has a city council of five, comprised of the Mayor Sunny Park, Mayor Pro-Tem Arthur C. Brown, and Council Members Susan Sonne, Elizabeth Swift, and Connor Traut.

Buena City is home to several well-known attractions, such as Knott's Berry Farm, Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament, and Beach Boulevard. Buena Park also has a small Japanese Village and a park on Knottt Avenue. In addition to being a popular destination for visitors, the city is also home to several car dealerships and approximately 100 manufacturing and warehousing companies.
