The Census Bureau reports that as of 2010, Dallesport had a population of 98,576 people. This number is lower than many cities in Kentucky. However, this does not necessarily mean that the population is less than half as large. In fact, it could be a good indicator of a thriving economy in Dallesport City. For example, if you have a family of four, a large percentage of them will be below the poverty line.

The population of Dallesport began in the mid-nineteenth century and has gone by three different names. It began as Rockland and became a part of the Oregon Territory in 1853. It was then part of Klickitat County. Eventually, Dallesport became the name it is today. While Dallesport has a history that is as diverse as the population of the city, its current name is more fitting for its modern-day residents.

The city's main commercial district was platted in 1855. This city grew as a result of exploration, trade, and the Columbia River. The town was named after long and short narrows in the river, but no longer exists today due to The Dalles Dam. The city was incorporated in 1857 and had an estimated population of 804 in 1860. Since that time, the town has experienced booms and busts and has been affected by the Columbia River.
